JAMES DAY 26 PRAYER
Pray that you will live for today with a healthy vision and planning for tomorrow. Pray that as you work and plan for your future you will not lose site of the moment of “now” and see today as a gift and give all your future plans to the Lord.
James 4:13-14 (New International Version)
13Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” 14Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes.
JAMES DAY 26 CHALLENGE
The older I get, the louder this verse speaks to me! As I watch friends go through trials, divorce, health issues, accidents, debt, financial stress and even death, it becomes a clearer reality that life is short and you never know when things can drastically change in just a moment.
I have watched families become destroyed by not spending time with one another. Instead time is spent chasing riches, fame, pleasure and false happiness. How sad. It is often at a funeral or on someone’s deathbed that reality hits, “I was chasing after something that really doesn’t matter in the end.”
Let today’s passage be a reminder to us all of what matters most in life. God lays it out for us, love God and love others, period! When we make God and people first, our lives are fulfilled, complete, peaceful and significant. Let us catch ourselves when we spend more time doing instead of being, worrying instead of trusting, complaining instead of appreciating, judging instead of accepting, or avoiding instead of embracing.

SPECIAL PRAYER/CHALLENGE TO WIVES FOR THEIR HUSBANDS:
JAMES DAY 26 PRAYER
Pray that your husband will live for today with a healthy vision and planning for tomorrow. Pray that as he provides for his family and plans for his future he will not lose site of the moment of “now” and see today as a gift and give all his future plans to the Lord.
JAMES DAY 26 CHALLENGE
Today’s verse makes me think of the verse in Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
I think there is a lesson in this passage for all of us. For us as wives I see this passage challenging us on our trust in the Lord. Often we depend on our own works and those of our husband to give us security for our future.
