Psalm 4

71436186

Ladies, what a beautiful psalm this is! Read it slowly, read it often!

I love what a prayer this psalm is for each of us!!

“Give me relief from my distress.”

Oh how this statement burns in my heart as I learn more and more about addiction and it’s destructive effect on lives! The goal of using is relief…honestly, it’s a false relief. It’s one that works initially for the quick moment, it’s why people use, but sadly, it’s destructive forces catch up.

It tears me up seeing the battle of addiction. We all have our vices. Yet God gives us relief! Meditate on this psalm ladies. Pray it for yourself and pray it for others!

My prayer is that God speaks to each of us in a very personal way through His Word this week and through this beautiful psalm!

Psalm 4

1 Answer me when I call to you,
O my righteous God.
Give me relief from my distress;
be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame [a] ?
How long will you love delusions and seek false gods [b] ?
Selah

3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself;
the LORD will hear when I call to him.

4 In your anger do not sin;
when you are on your beds,
search your hearts and be silent.
Selah

5 Offer right sacrifices
and trust in the LORD.

6 Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?”
Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.

7 You have filled my heart with greater joy
than when their grain and new wine abound.

8 I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety.

Psalm 3

Wow, so much to chew on here! Let’s meditate, read and reread this psalm through!

Your challenges are to come!

Psalm 3

A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom.

1 O LORD, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!

2 Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
Selah

3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD;
you bestow glory on me and lift up my head.

4 To the LORD I cry aloud,
and he answers me from his holy hill.
Selah

5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the LORD sustains me.

6 I will not fear the tens of thousands
drawn up against me on every side.

7 Arise, O LORD!
Deliver me, O my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.

8 From the LORD comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
Selah

Psalm 2 Reflection

Psalm2_7-8

Wow Ladies (and a few of you gents),

What an adjustment it is not writing my prayers and challenges every day to you!! How much I miss doing so!

But, I understand there are seasons in life for all things, I must remain faithful to my studies and family………but trust me, I get excited thinking about writing every day again in the summer! :-)

As I continue to reflect on Psalm 2 for this week I can almost feel the grief from verses 1-3. Do you ever wonder why? Why do people do such things? Do you ever wonder why we do such things? I certainly do! One thing I have learned is God doesn’t play. Yes, He’s a loving, caring God. He’s merciful and full of grace, but I definitely “Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice with trembling!”

Another part of Psalm 2 that hits me like a brick is the very last line, “Blessed are all who take refuge in him.” How often do we truly take refuge in the Lord? How often do we seek shelter from Him? How often do we put our complete trust in Him? I don’t know about you, but I have to daily battle this trust. I sometimes fool myself by thinking, “of course I completely trust in the Lord.” But, there are many times that my actions speak otherwise!

Our challenge today is to do a gut check on how much we are taking refuge in Him as opposed to other things, people or ourselves. Ask God to reveal to you any areas in which we are not trusting Him completely and to ask for forgiveness. Let us pray that we (and for us that are married, for our spouses) will take refuge in Him today!
