As I went back over Psalm 7, it hit me that I could apply some of the “evil” ways that are spoken of to be ones in my very own life! Today I am able to have a full day of rest. I am diligent to have one or two of these days in my week. When I do, I relentlessly insist that I sit on my couch with my tea wrapped in my blanket before anyone gets up and open myself up to His Word in a deeper way. Today I was led to Jude. Jude confirmed my conviction of my own evil ways. It challenged me big time! I love that about God’s Word. I love that I can take it in Love (His Love) and make changes. Jude is a small book. If you get the chance sit down, uninterrupted, and slowly go through it. It’s meant for us believers.
Here is what Charles Swindoll says and challenges us with regarding the book of Jude! May it lovingly kick your tail like it did mine!
“The time has come for you and for me to look deep within and ask ourselves some penetrating questions. As we evaluate our willingness to stand with Jude in contending for the faith, I wonder if his words cut into our hearts. I wonder if, in the process of these last number of years (or maybe even months), there has begun to be an erosion in your faith, maybe a slow, almost imperceptible hardening of your heart, a weakening of your commitment, a loosening of your lifestyle. How’s the quantity and quality of your time with God in prayer and fellowship and in the Word? How teachable is your spirit, how contrite is your heart? How are you doing in showing mercy and caring for the hurting? Is your thought pattern a wholesome one? Do you still cultivate a heart for God? I say those things to myself, as well. As you ‘contend for the faith,’ are we doing that?”
Ladies, continue to pray daily for yourself and for those who are married, for your husbands! Pray for your future husband, your children or your future children. Pray for your in-laws (son, daughter, mother or father) or your future in-laws. Pray for your grandchildren or your future grandchildren. The power of prayer is amazing!
Make it a great week!
Sara
